A commission on patriotic education has been created in the Nizhny Novgorod Duma.

      September 29, 2025 18:49 Society. Today, on September 29, at the first meeting of the Duma of Nizhny Novgorod of the 1st convocation, deputies formed the composition of the permanent specialized commissions and elected their leaders.

      In the new convocation, a commission on patriotic education, youth policy, physical culture and sports was created for the first time. It was headed by Vladimir Poddymnikov-Gordeev. City Duma speaker Evgeny Chintsov explained that in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, declared by the head of state the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland, this area has been singled out as a priority: support for combat veterans and participants in the special military operation (SVO), as well as the patriotic education of youth — "our duty." The new commission will address these issues, as well as organize events for children and youth, develop volunteerism, physical culture and sports.

      Mark Feldman headed the Commission on Budgetary, Financial and Tax Policy. Its remit includes management and control of the execution of the city budget, analysis of tax deductions and receipts, including in cooperation with the city's Control and Accounts Chamber.

      The Commission on Local Self-Government, under the leadership of Olga Balakina, will oversee issues of administrative-territorial division, the work of local authorities, interaction with the population and public associations, the development of international and foreign economic ties, the commemoration of outstanding individuals and historical events, as well as the assignment of addresses and names to elements of the street-road network and the planning structure.

      Irina Molkova headed the Commission on Ecology. She will be responsible for developing and implementing measures to protect the environment and improve the city's ecological situation.

      Pavel Pashinin headed the Commission on Urban Management. Its responsibilities include maintenance of the municipal housing stock, oversight and development of communal services, public improvement and implementation of programs to modernize the city's infrastructure.

      The Commission on Social Policy, led by Inna Vankina, will focus on supporting projects in culture and the arts, initiatives for youth and ensuring access to quality education.

      Alexey Zapoev headed the Commission on Municipal Property. Its areas include municipal land control and the management and disposal of city property.

      Stanislav Prokopovich headed the Commission on the Development of Road Management and Transport. The commission will prepare a comprehensive program for the development of transport infrastructure and oversee the maintenance of roads.

      Sergey Plyaskin headed the Commission on the Development of the Economy, Industry, Entrepreneurship and Tourism. Commission members will determine the strategy for the socio-economic development of urban territories.

      Mikhail Ivanov headed the Commission on Urban Planning and Architecture. The commission's work will focus on the development of engineering infrastructure and oversight of urban planning activities.

      The formed group of commissions is intended to ensure effective drafting of legal acts and the resolution of the key tasks for the development of Nizhny Novgorod over the next five years.

      It was previously reported that the Duma had elected Chintsov's deputies.
