Fountains in Nizhny Novgorod will begin to be turned off for the winter on October 1.

      Nizhny Novgorod fountains will begin to be shut down for the winter from October 1. This was reported to NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" by the city's Department of Improvement.

      As the department explained, the timing for stopping the equipment depends on weather conditions and the technical characteristics of each site. The process will be carried out in stages, taking into account the specifics of each fountain.

      Shutdown and winter preparation will proceed in parallel. From October 1 to 15, specialists will carry out a range of conservation works: they will drain the water, dismantle pumps, nozzles, lighting fixtures and electronic control systems.

      Pipes, chambers and surfaces will also be cleaned, after which the fountains will be covered with protective structures that will preserve the equipment during the cold season.

      The department emphasized that such preventive maintenance measures must be carried out annually before frosts set in. This helps prevent damage and maintain the fountains’ operability in the next season.

      Earlier it was reported that a fountain was installed in the renovated square by the Ordzhonikidze Palace of Culture in Nizhny Novgorod.
