In the Moskovsky District of Nizhny Novgorod, traffic police detained a 53-year-old man who had left his car on the tram tracks. It later emerged that the driver was intoxicated, did not have a driver's license, and the vehicle was not properly registered. This was reported by the press service of the Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Nizhny Novgorod.

The report of the violation was received by the duty unit from a dispatcher at the Nizhegorodelectrotrans company. He said that an unknown car was obstructing public transport by standing directly on the tram tracks.

A crew from the separate road-patrol battalion of the traffic police (OGIBDD) arrived at the scene. The police promptly identified the offender.

Administrative charges were drawn up against the man under two articles: under Part 1 of Article 12.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation — for operating a vehicle not registered in the prescribed manner; and under Part 3 of Article 12.8 of the Code — for driving under the influence of alcohol without the right to operate vehicles.

The offender’s foreign-made car was towed to a specialized impound lot.

Earlier it was reported that a drunk driver in Nizhny Novgorod crashed into a barrier.
