Hurricane-force winds are moving into Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.

      A southwesterly wind with gusts of up to 17 meters per second is approaching the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported by the press service of the "Nizhnovenergo" branch, citing the Hydrometeorological Center.

      Due to the deterioration of weather conditions, the personnel of the "Rosseti Centre and Privolzhye" branch — "Nizhnovenergo" — have switched to an enhanced mode of operation. 136 mobile teams have been formed for rapid response to possible emergency situations.

      Particular attention is being paid to ensuring uninterrupted power supply to socially significant facilities and critically important infrastructure. An operational headquarters has been set up at the branch, and a constant exchange of information has been established with units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) and the regional executive authorities.

      Specialists remind residents to observe safety precautions. If you find downed power lines, you must not approach them. Such cases should be reported immediately to the power company or the local EMERCOM office.

      Earlier it was reported that a second Indian summer is expected in the Nizhny Novgorod region in early October.
