The Ministry of Tourism and Trades of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and the Russian Hotel Association (RGA) have signed a cooperation agreement during a meeting between the head of the regional ministry, Sergey Yakovlev, and hoteliers. The parties intend to jointly develop the region’s hotel sector, improve the quality of service for tourists, promote the Nizhny Novgorod Region as an attractive destination for domestic and inbound tourism, hold joint events, and implement projects aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the hotel business.

“Signing an agreement with the Russian Hotel Association opens up new prospects for the development of tourism and the hotel business in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. We count on close cooperation with professional market participants aimed at improving service quality, attracting investment and promoting our region as an attractive tourism destination. Together we will pay particular attention to the importance of undergoing classification of accommodation facilities, since this is not only a mandatory requirement for operation but also a guarantee of guests’ trust that contributes to increasing the competitiveness of our hotels,” said Sergey Yakovlev, Minister of Tourism and Trades of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

The signing of the agreement with the Russian Hotel Association is in line with the goals and objectives of the national project “Tourism and Hospitality.”

“Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod Region set an example for the entire Russian tourism market: high hotel occupancy rates, steady growth in tourist numbers and high-quality work by the hospitality industry. Despite the difficult times of the pandemic and economic changes, the sector continues to develop thanks to the professionalism of market participants and the support of regional authorities. These achievements confirm that Russia is able to compete at the international level, demonstrating a high standard of guest service. On behalf of our association, we are ready to help the region improve service quality,” said Gennady Lamshin, Executive Director of the Russian Hotel Association.

The Russian Hotel Association is a non-profit organization that has been bringing together hotel enterprises and other collective accommodation providers, as well as manufacturers of goods and services for them, since 1997.

“Our association is a community of hoteliers united by a common interest in making a guest’s stay in our city unforgettable. Each member brings their unique idea, experience and knowledge, helping others to improve. Together we create comfort, convenience and impressions that remain in the hearts of our guests forever,” added Yuri Lebedev, head of the RGA’s Nizhny Novgorod branch.

Recall that the national project “Tourism and Hospitality,” initiated by President of Russia Vladimir Putin, is the successor to the national project “Tourism and the Hospitality Industry.” It envisages the development of infrastructure, production of equipment, training of personnel for the tourism sector, promotion of travel within Russia, as well as the provision of quality service and safe, convenient trips. The national project includes five federal projects: “Creation of room stock, infrastructure and attraction points,” “Five Seas and Lake Baikal,” “Production of domestic products for the tourism industry,” “Tourist attractiveness of the country,” and “Personnel for tourism.”
