The risks of natural fires occurring in the Nizhny Novgorod Oblast are still high.

      A high fire danger for forests and peatlands persists in the Nizhny Novgorod region and in Nizhny Novgorod city. This was reported by the Crisis Management Center of the regional directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia, citing data from the Upper Volga UGMS.

      From September 23 to 25, 2025, Class 4 fire hazard is expected in certain areas. This means an increased likelihood of natural fires, including the threat of fire spreading to settlements and economic facilities.

      The Main Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region strongly recommends that residents observe fire safety measures. In particular, visiting forests is prohibited under conditions of high fire danger.

      It is also forbidden to burn garbage on garden and dacha plots, especially near forested areas. Building bonfires, smoking, and discarding burning matches and cigarette butts in the forest are not permitted. Flammable materials, glass bottles and trash should not be left in the forest.

      If a wildfire is discovered, it must be reported to the fire services immediately.

      For operational information about emergencies and adverse weather conditions, citizens are advised to use the "EMERCOM of Russia" mobile application.

      Earlier it was reported that Nizhny Novgorod foresters were supplied with new equipment: 19 snowmobiles, four boats and two patrol vehicles.
