Tram tracks will be laid in Novinki, Nizhny Novgorod.

      The regional Ministry of Urban Development issued a permit to develop a territory planning project for the construction of a tram line in the settlement of Novinki, which is part of the Nizhny Novgorod urban district. The work was assigned to a subordinate organization — the "Institute for the Development of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Agglomeration." The corresponding order was published on the ministry's official website on September 22.

      According to the document, the future tram line will begin at house No. 10 on 40 Let Pobedy Street in the regional center. The route will pass through the area adjacent to the village of Olgino and the settlement of Novinki, cross Olginskoye Highway and the service road parallel to Gagarin Avenue, and will also affect the R-158 highway.

      The terminal point of the route is marked as the treatment facilities on Tsentralnaya Street, next to house No. 2D in the settlement of Novinki. The total area of the territory covered by the planning project is 155 hectares. However, this figure may be revised later.

      Before design begins, engineering surveys will be carried out on the site. The exact parameters of the future tram line will become known after the completion of all preparatory stages.

      A new tram line will also be built within Novinki itself. This is stated in another order of the agency concerning the preparation of territory planning documentation. The work will take place in the area of 2nd Dorozhnaya Street, including intersections with the service road parallel to Gagarin Avenue. The total area of the territory subject to planning is 42.3 hectares.

      It is noted that the characteristics of the future tram line, including its length and exact location, will be determined in the process of developing the project documentation. Engineering surveys will also be conducted and the necessary approvals obtained from regional and city agencies.

      The development of project documentation for both linear objects is planned to be completed by October 1, 2026.

      Recall that the development of the project for the new tram line to the settlement of Novinki was promised to begin after the reconstruction of existing tracks.

      It was also reported that more than one million square meters of housing are planned to be built in Novinki.
