Residents of Nizhny Novgorod are invited to participate in the "Father of the Year" contest.
In the run-up to Father’s Day, the user-generated video contest "Father of the Year" has launched as part of the national project "Family." Its goal is to emphasize the importance of fathers’ involvement in raising children and family life.
Participants are invited to shoot or choose from the family archive a video up to two minutes long showing dads spending time with their children: playing, teaching, inspiring, making everyday things special. The video must be posted on a personal VKontakte page with the hashtag and the caption "Participating in the contest #отецгода2025."
As the organizers note, "maybe you are #отецгода2025? Everything done together with dad somehow becomes especially fun and interesting. Catching a ball or a fish, building spaceships or a dollhouse — you don’t have to be perfect to be a good father. It is enough simply to be there, because the time spent with dad is priceless."
Sofia Malyavina, General Director of ANO "National Priorities," emphasized: "We pay special attention to dads because they play an important role in the lives and upbringing of children. The 'Father of the Year' contest was created to show how engaged fatherhood brings joy to the whole family."
The grand prize is a family voucher for accommodation at one of the hotels, which will be awarded to the hero of the winning video. Special nominations from the contest’s partners are also provided.
Applications are accepted until October 9, 2025. From October 10 to 15, a public vote will take place on the contest website отецгода2025.рф, after which five finalists will be selected. The winner will be chosen by children on October 17. Results will be announced on Father’s Day — October 19.
The national project "Family," supporting parents across the country since 2025, includes measures such as maternity capital, a unified allowance, family mortgages, social contracts, rental of essential items for newborns, children’s rooms at universities, payments and housing rent compensations. This makes parenthood more accessible and desirable.
