The children's choral school "Zhavoronok" has been named after Honored Art Worker of Russia Anatoly Alekseyevich Yezhov. The corresponding order was signed by the government of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, the Department of Culture of Nizhny Novgorod reported.

The initiative came from the school's staff, who applied for the naming of their founder on the eve of the institution's 60th anniversary. The department emphasized that Anatoly Yezhov devoted his life to the development of children's music education and choral art, leaving a significant mark on the history not only of Nizhny Novgorod but of the entire country.

The school's director, Anna Naletova, noted that Yezhov dreamed of a "school of joy and kindness" where children could master the art of choral singing, learn music notation and play musical instruments. According to her, the special atmosphere of creativity and love for children became the main feature of Zhavoronok's work, and now Anatoly Alekseyevich's name will forever be associated with this ensemble.

The Department of Culture recalled that Yezhov taught at the Gorky Choral College and the conservatory, and for 18 years headed the international festival "Nizhny Novgorod Nightingales," which gathered the best children's choirs from Russia and neighboring countries. Under his leadership, the Zhavoronok concert choir toured more than 40 Russian and European cities, winning numerous awards at prestigious competitions and festivals.

In December the school will celebrate its 60th anniversary. Over the years more than 1,200 people have graduated from it, many of whom continued their studies at music schools and chose professions related to music.

The institution has repeatedly received high honors: it is a laureate of the Nizhny Novgorod City Prize, has been awarded the Certificate of Honor of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and a Letter of Appreciation from the Government of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast.

It should be recalled that Anatoly Yezhov passed away on 8 February 2024. He was 83 years old.

In the same year, on 3 December 2024, Honored Cultural Worker of the Russian Federation Viktor Kozhukhin, who was one of the founders of the Zhavoronok school, died. He passed away in his 78th year.
