      Incidents

      In Nizhny Novgorod, the results of the 2025 summer bathing season were summed up. As reported by MKU "Administration for Civil Defense and Emergency Situations of the city of Nizhny Novgorod," 18 water-related accidents occurred within the city limits over the summer. All of them took place outside official beaches and recreation areas.

      Compared with last year, the number of incidents decreased by 5.3%. However, tragedies could not be avoided: 15 people died in bodies of water. Only two were rescued. There were no children among the deceased.

      Most often the misfortunes occurred due to swimming in non-designated places. People ignored safety rules and sometimes entered the water while intoxicated.

      Experts note that the main causes of the tragedies were swimming in non-designated places, failure to observe safety rules, and being in the water while intoxicated.

      Earlier it was reported that the Investigative Committee initiated a preliminary inquiry into the death of an elderly Nizhny Novgorod resident in one of the lakes.
