Incidents: In Nizhny Novgorod, an 81-year-old woman lost almost two million rubles after communicating with telephone scammers who presented themselves as law enforcement officers and military prosecutors. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region.

For two days the fraudsters called the pensioner, convincing her that a suspicious transaction had allegedly been made in her name that needed to be urgently canceled, and that a "declaration" of funds also had to be carried out.

Believing the callers, the woman agreed to follow their instructions. First she handed over 200,000 rubles, placing the money in her handbag and giving it to a courier at her home.

The next day the scammers contacted her again. Following their instructions, the pensioner packed the remaining 1,668,000 rubles into a tea box and also handed it to an unknown man. The total loss amounted to 1,868,000 rubles.

A criminal case has been opened on a fraud charge. Police officers are conducting an investigation and are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.

Earlier it was reported that a 73-year-old woman from Nizhny Novgorod gave scammers three apartments, two cars and 9 million rubles.
