In Belarus, the sale and import of Astoria sauces produced at the Nizhny Novgorod oil-and-fat plant have been banned. The reason was the results of laboratory tests. In some samples, bacteria of the Escherichia coli group were found, as well as undeclared additives.

The inspection was carried out by the Ministry of Health of Belarus. Specialists found E. coli in the "Sour Cream with Mushrooms" and "Cheesy Caesar" sauces. In addition, sulfur dioxide, not indicated on the packaging, was found in the "Chili" ketchup.

Also included on the list of unsafe products were cheese, garlic, sandwich and burger sauces. All of them are produced at the enterprise in Nizhny Novgorod and are now subject to removal from Belarusian store shelves.

For the manufacturer's products to be allowed for sale again in Belarus, they need to implement a number of corrective measures: establish a stable and safe process for production, storage and transportation; strengthen quality control; regularly test products in laboratories; and eliminate the causes that led to the restrictions. Only after this can the product return to the market.

Earlier it was reported that a batch of cream two months past its expiration date was discovered in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
