      Nizhny Novgorod Oblast has made it into the top three Russian regions where traffic accidents caused by motorcyclists occur most often. Over the first eight months of 2025, 186 such crashes occurred in the region, reports Kommersant.

      In these incidents 208 people were injured and another 14 died. By the number of motorcycle-involved accidents the region was second only to Krasnodar Krai and Moscow.

      In addition, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast ranked second for the number of accidents involving mopeds. From January to August there were 119 such cases in the region. Five people died and 125 were injured.

      Experts say the rise in accidents is linked to the fact that two-wheeled transport is becoming increasingly popular, while its riders do not always follow traffic rules.

      Earlier it was reported that a 14-year-old on a pit bike hit two cyclists on the roadside in Balakhna.
