Incidents
A criminal case on dropper activity has been opened for the first time in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region.
According to the investigation, an 18-year-old resident of the settlement of Tonshaevo persuaded his 16-year-old acquaintance to give him access to her electronic payment service. Over three days he used the obtained data to transfer to her account funds stolen by fraudsters from other citizens, and then sent them to third‑party accounts.
The police note that the suspect was aware of his role in the criminal scheme and received a reward for it — 1% of the amount of each transit transfer.
A criminal case has been opened under Part 5 of Article 187 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — "Illegal turnover of payment funds." The article's sanction provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to six years.
At present, law enforcement officers continue operational-search measures and investigative actions aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the suspect's unlawful activities.
Recall that in June the State Duma and the Federation Council approved a bill introducing criminal liability for dropper activity. Earlier a specialist gave recommendations on how not to become a dropper and how to protect your loved ones from this.
