      A 450-square-meter lot had long remained neglected: there was no surface covering, the fence was partially destroyed, and after rains the area turned into solid mud. At the same time the site never stood empty. A school, two kindergartens and about 35 apartment buildings are located nearby, so local residents, especially children and teenagers, used the field actively.

      According to the district’s social precinct officer Valeria Karpova, the main request from city residents was the creation of a full-fledged sports area for children. She said that before the work began they held community clean-up days together with residents, trying to keep the place tidy.

      As part of the work, an asphalt concrete base was installed, a modern rubber surface was laid, a soft 4-meter-high barrier was mounted, football goals and basketball backboards were installed, and game markings were painted. The adjacent area was also landscaped. The finished sports zone was inspected by activists and the coordinator of the “Social Precinct Officer” project, Mikhail Ivanov.

      The “Social Precinct Officer” project has been implemented since March 2023 at the initiative of the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin. It covers Nizhny Novgorod, Dzerzhinsk, Arzamas, Bogorodsk and Kstovo.
