Incidents
In Nizhny Novgorod, police uncovered two cases of fictitious registration on the migration register. In both incidents, local residents registered foreigners at their addresses for money or at the foreigners' request, although those foreigners did not actually live there. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The first case occurred in the village of Kusakovka. There, a 51-year-old man, officially unemployed, registered three citizens of one of the countries of the near abroad. He knew they were not going to live with him, but still registered them at his place of residence.
The second incident was recorded in the Moskovsky District of the city. A 28-year-old woman, who already had a criminal record, listed a foreign national as living in her room in a house on Moskovskoye Highway. In fact, the foreign national never appeared at that address.
In both cases, criminal cases have been opened under the article "Fictitious registration of a foreign citizen or a stateless person at their place of stay in Russia." The suspects were placed under a preventive measure in the form of an undertaking not to leave and an obligation to behave properly.
Earlier it was reported that 800,000 rubles were recovered from a Nizhny Novgorod construction company for hiring illegal migrants.
