      Over the past 24 hours nine fires were extinguished in the Nizhny Novgorod region, the regional office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) reported.

      Among them was a serious fire in a residential house in the Spassky municipal district, which resulted in the death of a woman. The fire covered an area of 90 square meters.

      Fires were also reported in the Perevozsky district, where a bathhouse burned over an area of 14 square meters, and in Dzerzhinsk — on the loggia of an apartment building the fire affected 20 square meters.

      One person was injured in the incidents, and another was rescued. Sixteen people were evacuated, including one child.

      Earlier it was reported that since the beginning of the year 103 people have died in fires in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
