Society On the "Regional Medical Services Portal," a new digital tool—the "Waiting List" service—has been launched, allowing residents of the Nizhny Novgorod region to join an electronic queue for appointments with basic specialty doctors. This was reported by the press service of the Nizhny Novgorod government.
The service covers a wide range of specialists: therapists, pediatricians, dentists, surgeons, gynecologists, otolaryngologists, pulmonologists, psychiatrists, narcologists, and ophthalmologists.
If the doctor's schedule has no available or convenient times, patients can leave a request on the "Waiting List." When a suitable time becomes available, the system automatically notifies the patient via push notification or email provided during registration.
To access the service, users must log in to the "Patient Portal" through the "Gosuslugi" portal—authentication is via login and password. For proper operation, it is recommended to use Russian email services.
The Minister of Health of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Galina Mikhaylova, noted that the new feature significantly simplifies the appointment registration process.
"Users can operate the service independently—just click the 'Join Queue' button on the portal. After requests are distributed, the schedule becomes accessible for others to book," explained the minister.
Digitalization of healthcare is a priority within the national project "Active and Long Life." New digital tools enable real-time monitoring of the quality and speed of medical assistance, as well as timely alerts to clinic management and relevant Ministry of Health departments about potential delays.
For the convenience of medical staff, the service interface features color-coded requests. If a patient is awaiting an appointment for more than three days, their request changes from green to orange, and if waiting exceeds a week—red. This helps administrators quickly respond to delays and make managerial decisions.
The development of the service was carried out by the Medical Information and Analytical Center (MIAC) of the regional Ministry of Health. Director Tatiana Antokhova reported that before launch, the system underwent testing in all medical organizations in the region. The testing lasted over a month and helped eliminate technical issues.
"The launch of the electronic queue has become one of the most anticipated innovations of the portal. Many participants in the pilot project appreciated the convenience and efficiency of the service," Antokhova said.
It is also specified that emergency medical assistance continues to be provided without prior registration—in urgent cases, upon arrival at the emergency room or calling an ambulance.
If a doctor is temporarily unavailable due to vacation or illness, the system will automatically suggest the patient see another specialist. Additionally, if someone refuses their appointment slot, the next person in line will be notified of an available opening.
The Ministry of Health asks residents of Nizhny Novgorod not to duplicate appointment requests across different platforms. If a patient initially joined the "Waiting List" and then registered with a doctor via the "Gosuslugi" portal and attended the appointment, their request is automatically canceled. Those who refuse a proposed time three times are also removed from the queue. These measures help maintain the efficiency of the service and prevent overload.
Recall that the digitalization of the healthcare system is one of the key objectives of the national project "Active and Long Life."
Earlier, it was reported that Gleb Nikitin and Mikhail Murashko discussed the development of the healthcare system in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
