The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, has ordered a report on the progress and results of an investigation into allegations of rights violations of residents of an aging multi-apartment building in Nizhny Novgorod. Oversight of the handling of the complaint has been assigned to the agency’s central office.

The case concerns a building located on Ulyanova Street. According to residents, the building has not undergone major repairs in over 40 years. As a result, the façade is deteriorating, the roof is leaking, and moisture and peeling plaster have appeared inside the apartments.

Although local residents claim the house was built in 1884, official records indicate the construction year as 1917. Numerous appeals by citizens to various authorities have not yielded any results.

Currently, a procedural review has been initiated by the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region. Regional management head Ayrat Akhmetshin has been instructed to submit both preliminary and final conclusions based on the investigation’s findings.

Earlier, Alexander Bastrykin demanded a report on the case involving a child's death at a Nizhny Novgorod clinic.
