      Employees of the Ministry of Ecology of the Nizhny Novgorod Region recorded an illegal discharge of liquid household waste near the settlement of Novinki. The violation occurred on agricultural land owned by the federal government. This was reported by the department.

      Inspectors caught two truck drivers in the act of draining waste. The ministry paid special attention to the fact that, just two kilometers from this location, there is an official reception point for liquid household waste.

      The violators were held administratively liable — fines of 40,000 rubles were imposed, and the area where they illegally discharged waste was placed under special control by the department.

      The Ministry of Ecology added that raids to prevent unauthorized discharges of sewage are conducted regularly and will continue in an intensified format. Such measures help to prevent violations and punish those responsible.

      It was previously reported that “black” septic tankers would be caught at night in Nizhny Novgorod. Additionally, illegal discharges are one of the reasons for the foul odors in the capital of the Volga region. Furthermore, a “wet barrier” was installed at the Nizhny Novgorod aeration station to neutralize odors. Nonetheless, residents of Nizhny Novgorod continue to complain about the smell in various districts of the city.
