A ceremony was held in Kazan to mark the closing of the first professional skills championship among participants of the special military operation, "Abilympics." The championship brought together representatives from 79 regions of Russia, with a competition program conducted across 15 competencies.
Two veterans of the SVO represented the Nizhny Novgorod region, competing in "Carpentry" and "Auto repair and maintenance."
Anna Tsivileva, State Secretary – Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation and Chairperson of the "Defenders of the Fatherland" Foundation, noted that training, retraining, and employment of SVO veterans are among the Foundation's top priorities.
"Events like the 'Abilympics' championship motivate heroes of the special operation. The recently concluded competition set a very high standard. It is important that our heroes demonstrated their skills and gained an overview of professions where they can succeed. This is especially gratifying for us: we understand that we are moving in the right direction – doing what our veterans need," said Anna Tsivileva.
Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, congratulated the participants of the championship.
"The Russian 'Abilympics' movement is rapidly developing, uniting all regions of the country. Over ten years, the championship has become one of the most significant events in the field of inclusive professional education, expanding its mission. As President Vladimir Putin has noted, people who choose to serve the Motherland should, through their training and desire, occupy certain positions across various sectors and fields. 'Abilympics' provides SVO participants such an opportunity: 79 individuals from 37 regions have become winners and will participate in the national championship final in Moscow this fall," emphasized Dmitry Chernyshenko.
Dina Makieva, Head of the National "Abilympics" Center at the Institute for the Development of Professional Education, expressed gratitude to the organizers and partners of the championship for their support and high professionalism.
"The first 'Abilympics' championship for SVO participants is a crucial event for the development of professional rehabilitation systems for our veterans. The competition covered 15 in-demand competencies. Among the most popular are 'UAV Operator,' 'Welding Technologies,' and 'Auto Repair and Maintenance.' I am confident that the skills demonstrated here will become a solid foundation for the successful professional careers of the championship participants," Makieva concluded.
The professional skills championship among participants of the special military operation "Abilympics" was held in accordance with the instruction of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The organizers are the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, supported by the State Fund for Supporting SVO Participants "Defenders of the Fatherland."
