Nizhny Novgorod residents were reminded of the symptoms and protective measures against the new Stratus coronavirus strain, which has already reached Russia. This was reported by Komsomolskaya Pravda – Nizhny Novgorod.

According to Rospotrebnadzor data as of July 25, there have been 114 confirmed cases in Russia. The highest number of cases has been registered in Moscow.

Currently, no cases of Stratus infection have been identified in the Nizhny Novgorod region. However, specialists do not exclude the possibility that this strain may appear in the region due to its high infectivity.

Doctors say that Stratus is transmitted via airborne droplets and its symptoms resemble those of a common cold or acute respiratory viral infection (ARVI). Fever usually ranges from 37.5 to 38.5 degrees Celsius. Possible symptoms also include cough, sore throat, weakness, headache, and general malaise.

Patients sometimes complain of nasal congestion and body aches. However, a distinctive feature of this strain is hoarseness or a husky voice.

Despite its rapid transmission, Stratus does not cause a more severe course of illness compared to previous coronavirus variants. The regional Rospotrebnadzor clarified that most patients experience mild symptoms.

However, complications can occur in the elderly, people with chronic illnesses, and those with weakened immune systems. Therefore, medical professionals urge not to ignore preventive measures.

To reduce the risk of infection, it is important to wash hands regularly with soap, avoid touching the face with dirty hands, use tissues when coughing or sneezing. Wearing masks in public places is also recommended, especially during periods of increased illness, avoiding close contact with people showing signs of ARVI, and frequently ventilating rooms.

It was previously reported that researchers identified side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine on the human body.
