A deciduous tooth of a young woolly mammoth was discovered in Pochain Ravine in Nizhny Novgorod. This was reported by the regional governor Gleb Nikitin on his Telegram channel.

Archaeologists found the find on the slope of the ravine, near Rozhdestvenskaya Street. The tooth was located about two meters beneath the modern surface.

This again demonstrated that mammoths indeed inhabited the Middle Volga region. They began to disappear around 11,000 years ago due to climate change. Mammoth remains have already been found in Nizhny Novgorod. In the 1930s, a skull of this animal with two upper molar teeth was discovered near the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin.

Recall that a document written on wood shavings was found in the Nizhny Novgorod archive.
