      The Balakhna City Court of the Nizhny Novgorod Region has sentenced the director and the chief accountant of the municipal enterprise "MP Kenevo" of the BMO Municipal District of the Nizhny Novgorod Region. Both defendants were found guilty of embezzling budget funds using their official positions. This was reported by the press service of the regional FSB department.

      During the investigation conducted by the department, it was established that, at the director’s instruction, the chief accountant transferred over 2 million rubles to their personal bank accounts. The transfers were made without the proper documentation confirming the legality of the payments.

      Investigators initiated criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which provides for liability for embezzlement or misappropriation on a large scale using one's official position.

      The court found both guilty. The director was sentenced to 3 years in a correctional colony. The chief accountant received a 3-year probation sentence with an identical probationary period.

      It was previously reported that the FSB detained Ilya Khalturin, the former director of Teploenergo, who spent a year in pre-trial detention. Prior to that, news broke of the detention of the traffic police chief in Lyskovo.
