      Rospotrebnadzor has completed another water quality inspection of bodies of water in Nizhny Novgorod used for swimming and published a list of beaches where swimming is deemed safe.

      As of August 1, 2025, sanitary and epidemiological conclusions confirming that the water meets standards have been issued for 11 beaches. Among them:

      - Lake Pesticnoye in the Dubravny settlement (Sormovo);

      - Both beaches of Svetloyar Lake (Sormovo);

      - Lunskoye Lake in the Koposovo settlement (Sormovo);

      - Meshcherskoye Lake (Kanavinsky District);

      - Sorting Lake in Berezovaya Roshcha (Kanavinsky District);

      - Both beaches of Silikatnoye Lake (Leninsky District);

      - Permyakovskoye Lake on Permyakova Street (Avtozavod);

      - Lake in Parks of the 777th Anniversary of Nizhny Novgorod on L'vovskaya Street (Avtozavod);

      - Lakes in Parks of the 1st and 2nd phases on Smirnova Street and Molodyozhny Avenue (Avtozavod);

      - The first lake at Shchelkovsky Khutor (Prioksky District).

      Additionally, specialists reminded which bodies of water are unsuitable for swimming. Primarily, those where signs or barriers prohibit bathing. Also, areas inhabited by waterfowl should be avoided—larvae of waterfowl can cause skin diseases and allergic reactions.

      The presence of blooming water, algae near the shore, and proximity to dumps, farmland, or industrial sites may indicate possible pollution. Such bodies of water may contain parasites, helminths, bacteria, and heavy metals, posing health risks.

      Rospotrebnadzor emphasizes that even in flowing waters, risks can exist. In designated no-swimming zones, water testing is not conducted.

      Recall that at the start of the swimming season, residents of Nizhny Novgorod complained about infection with cercariae after swimming in some city bodies of water.
