Nizhny Novgorod Transport Prosecutor's Office has stepped up control over cruise companies due to temporary movement restrictions of vessels through the Gorodetsky Hydroelectric Dam.
On July 22, a partial destruction of the structure occurred at the Gorodetsky Dam. The head of the lock chamber between Lock No. 15 and No. 16 collapsed, resulting in flooding of the under-construction chamber of Lock 15A.
The department is checking how well passenger carriers fulfill their obligations to tourists, whose routes may have changed or been delayed.
To enable passengers to promptly report problems, a mobile reception of the prosecutor's office operates at the Galanino pier in Gorodets. Here, they can receive consultations or file complaints.
Supervision of the situation will continue until vessel movement through the hydroelectric dam is fully restored.
