Society In the evening of July 22, Nizhny Novgorod was struck by heavy rain coming from Moscow. The downpour was accompanied by thunderstorm and strong gusts of wind.
According to meteorologists, the capital experienced a record amount of rainfall — such a heavy rain had not been recorded for over 150 years.
The rain also affected certain areas of the regional center on July 23 morning.
According to city authorities, work to eliminate the aftermath of the storm continues in Nizhny Novgorod. Utility services are actively pumping water from flooded areas and clearing storm drains of debris and leaves.
In the Autzovodsky district, equipment is operating on October Avenue, Ilyich, Kirov, Busygin streets, as well as on Komsomolets, Dyakova, Druzhayeva streets and others.
In the Kanavinsky district, crews are working on Moskovsky and Komsomolskoye highways, in the "Gordeevsky" microdistrict, and at other problem points.
Work in the city districts will continue until the consequences of the weather are fully addressed.
