"The 'Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region' program will allow participants of the SVO, who have gained combat experience, to demonstrate themselves in civilian life. In turn, I am ready to share my experience and be of benefit to the region," said SVO veteran and program participant Valery Demidov.
Valery graduated from the Ryazan Guards Higher Airborne Command School named after General of the Army V.F. Margelov. After service, he worked in the agricultural sector, including 12 years as the head of an agricultural enterprise. During mobilization, he was sent to the SVO zone.
"I am a career officer, and from the first days of service, I held leadership command positions. It’s a great responsibility: besides making tough decisions, I must be responsible for the lives and health of the entrusted soldiers. I have things to share and can help the region in a new capacity — to continue serving the Motherland in state and municipal service," said the SVO veteran.
Currently, Valery Demidov manages a small enterprise. As part of the 'Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region' program, he hopes to develop skills in strategic planning and leading a large team. After completing the training, he plans to apply these skills in the agricultural sector.
It should be noted that the 'Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region' program aims to integrate and employ participants and veterans of the special military operation into the system of public administration. In March 2025, an agreement was signed between the government of the Nizhny Novgorod region, RANEPA, and KUPNO on cooperation regarding the implementation of this program.
Registration for the 'Heroes. Nizhny Novgorod Region' program ended on March 31. During the selection campaign, 1,613 applications were received from residents of Nizhny Novgorod.
Based on the total score for questionnaires, testing, online interviews, and assessments, as well as the results of face-to-face interviews with Deputy Governor Andrey Gneushev, 60 participants were selected for the main educational program and 30 for inclusion in the next wave of the program after returning to the region.
