      The Russian Ministry of Transport has established an emergency response team to oversee operations at the Gorodets Dam in Nizhny Novgorod Region. The announcement was made by the department's press service. On July 22, 2025, the head of the lock chamber 15-16 collapsed during the construction of chamber No. 15A, leading to a halt in shipping. Seventeen dump trucks, a barge-tug, a crane, and excavators with a hydraulic hammer are working on-site to dismantle the emergency structure. An assessment of the incident site is underway. Tomorrow, divers will examine the underwater section, and the resumption of navigation will be determined after investigations. At the time of the incident, ten passenger ships with 1,500 passengers were waiting to pass; five were rerouted along other routes. Other cruises may be canceled with refunds. Passengers on canceled trips will be provided transportation through the Unified Transport Directorate. From July 23 to 25, 14 ships were scheduled to operate, and their routes will be adjusted if necessary. It is to be reminded that shipping was halted due to the accident at the Gorodets Dam. No casualties have been reported.
