      Officers of the Federal Security Service of Russia thwarted the activities of a Ukrainian Security Service agent operating in the Nizhny Novgorod region. This was reported by TASS, citing the FSB Public Relations Center.

      According to the agency, a man recruited by Ukrainian special services in 2024 arrived in Russia to carry out tasks aimed against national security. For monetary compensation, he agreed to cooperate and underwent training in covert methods, use of messaging apps for communication, as well as handling explosive substances.

      

      At the time of detention, the suspect was engaged in organizing a cache. Explosive materials, components of a drone, communication devices, and documents confirming his illegal activities were found and seized from him.

      Investigators from the FSB Directorate for the Nizhny Novgorod region initiated criminal cases against the man under articles concerning treason and illegal possession, storage, and transportation of explosive substances and devices. The court chose a detention measure for him.

      As clarified by the FSB, the accused admitted guilt and is cooperating with the investigation.
