Under the chairmanship of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, a meeting of the Coordination Committee overseeing the implementation of the Decade of Science and Technology took place. Participants summarized interim results and discussed preparations for the fifth Congress of Young Scientists, which will be held in November 2025.

According to Chernyshenko, the initiative launched by decree of President Vladimir Putin aims to strengthen the role of science and technology in solving the country's strategic tasks. The main goal is to achieve Russia’s technological leadership. A comprehensive plan is being implemented to popularize scientific knowledge and achieve tangible socio-economic effects.

The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that the Congress of Young Scientists has become part of the national project "Youth and Children." It unites representatives of the scientific community, business, and government agencies, creating a platform for dialogue and joint work.

Russian Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov reported that in 2024, youth interest in engineering specialties continues to grow. Admissions to these programs increased by 7%, reaching 228,000 students. Additionally, he said, parents more and more positively assess the scientist profession.

Deputy Minister Denis Sekerinsky added that over 3,000 events have already been held within the Decade of Science and Technology, involving more than 4 million people. Scientific volunteering is actively developing across the country, with new children’s scientific sites and routes for scientific tourism appearing.

Sofia Malyavina, head of the ANO "National Priorities," noted that only in the first half of 2025, more than 24,000 materials dedicated to science and technology have been published in Russian media.

Advisor to the President of Russia Anton Kobyakov announced the expansion of international participation in the upcoming Congress. According to him, more than 1,600 applications have already been submitted, including from foreign scientists. New formats include a Forum on humanitarian research of BRICS countries and exhibition clusters dedicated to key directions of scientific development.

Participants in the discussion also included Alexey Likhachev, head of the State Corporation "Rosatom"; Dmitry Artyukhov, governor of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Okrug; Natalia Virtuozova, director of the National Center "Russia"; rectors of leading universities; and representatives of the scientific community. They presented their proposals for further development of projects within the framework of the Decade of Science and Technology.
