A major furniture sales scam has been uncovered in Nizhny Novgorod.

      Nizhny Novgorod police uncovered a fraud scheme related to the sale of non-existent soft furniture. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Nizhny Novgorod Region. From August to December 2024, 51 residents of the city became victims of fraud: people made advance payments under contracts, but the paid sofas and armchairs were never delivered. The total damage amounted to approximately 2 million rubles. Police managed to identify and detain the alleged organizers of the criminal scheme—a 31-year-old founder and a 32-year-old commercial company director. Both suspects have already confessed. Money totaling 1.45 million rubles has been returned to 41 victims. Work to recover the remaining damages is ongoing. Currently, the suspects are under house arrest. They face up to six years in prison under the fraud article. The investigation of the case is ongoing.
