      Incidents A serious traffic accident involving a wild animal occurred on the Nizhny Novgorod — Shakhunya — Kirov highway in the Krasnobakovsky district.

      According to the press service of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Nizhny Novgorod region, the accident happened in the evening, around 10:20 PM, at the 123rd kilometer of the highway. The driver of a VAZ-2107, a 56-year-old man, was behind the wheel and was reportedly exceeding the speed limit.

      Suddenly, a moose ran onto the road. The driver was unable to brake in time and collided with the animal. The car veered off the roadway and ended up in a ditch.

      As a result of the incident, both the driver and his 50-year-old passenger were injured. Both victims were hospitalized at the Semenov Central District Hospital.

      Traffic police are conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.

      The State Traffic Safety Inspectorate reminds drivers of the importance of observing speed limits, especially at night and in areas where wild animals may appear.
