In Nizhny Novgorod, the grand opening of the region's first padel club took place. The event occurred on July 12 near the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium and was attended by over 200 guests, including families with children and large families.
Padel is a racket sport that combines elements of tennis and squash. It originated in Mexico but has been actively developing in Russia in recent years.
The ribbon was cut at the ceremony by Dmitry Kabaylo, Minister of Sports of the Nizhny Novgorod region, and Igor Dubrovin, founder of "Padel Club Arena." After the official part, the minister personally took to the court to try his hand at this new discipline for the region. The new courts were also tested by Maxim Gafurov, General Director of the Center for Management and Sports Development of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The club features four outdoor courts with professional surfaces, fencing, and artificial lighting. Up to 16 people can use the facilities simultaneously.
On the opening day, anyone could try playing. Masterclasses with professional coaches were organized for guests, designed for children, adults, and entire families. Additionally, tournaments were held among beginners and experienced players, with winners receiving prizes. The center will have professional trainers offering group and individual lessons, as well as open games and tournaments. Rackets and balls can also be rented.
