      Incidents Since the start of the swimming season in the Nizhny Novgorod region, 30 people have drowned. This was reported by the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the region.

      It is noted that a total of 35 water-related incidents have been recorded since June 1 in the region. This is 10.3% less than the same period last year, when 39 such cases were registered.

      The number of drownings has also decreased. In 2024, there were 40 victims during this period. Thus, the reduction is 25%. Additionally, in 2025, no child fatalities have been registered, whereas a year earlier, eight such tragedies occurred.

      A positive trend is also observed in the number of rescues. During the reporting period, 7 people were saved, which is 3.5 times the previous year's figure—only two people were rescued then. Among those rescued this year are two children, twice as many as in 2024.

      It was previously reported that only on Sunday, July 13, four people drowned in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
