The relatives who found the mushroom picker themselves got lost in the Nizhny Novgorod forest.

      September 2, 2026 15:40 Society In the village of Beryozovaya Poima, relatives found a mushroom picker and got lost themselves. As a result, rescuers had to lead six people out of the forest. According to volunteer Mikhail from the PSC "Lynx," a message about an urgent gathering for a life-threatening search was received on August 28 at 18:56. The pensioner arrived in the village by bus, walked past the gas distribution station, went into the forest for mushrooms, and disappeared. He managed to call his wife and inform her that he was in a ditch and could not find a crossing or ford. After that, it was no longer possible to contact him: his phone became unavailable. Volunteers, local residents, and relatives of the missing person joined the search. After some time, information came that the man had been found in the forest by his relatives. Mikhail admits that at that moment, he could breathe a sigh of relief and prepare for another search, but something was bothering him. "The guys are already discussing which road we should take to another settlement where more people are lost. I consciously hold them back, as if I sense something," he said. The fears were confirmed very quickly. One of the local residents received a call with the message that the relatives who found the pensioner had also gotten lost and could not find their way out. The man's nephew was able to get in touch, after which the searchers received the coordinates of their location. The point was located in the center of a swamp. A crew of experienced searchers was sent to the scene. About an hour later, the grandfather and his relatives were led out of the forest and taken to the village. The PSC "Lynx" reminded that independent night searches in the forest can lead to new incidents. Volunteers urged local residents not to go without the accompaniment of experienced searchers. Earlier, searchers from the PSO "Volunteer" reported how they accidentally found a lost five-year-old girl near the forest between Gorodishchi and Kerzhents.
