Nizhny Novgorod fake doctors received real sentences for "treating" cancer with vinegar.

      On August 27, 2026, at 18:11, Incidents In Nizhny Novgorod, a court sentenced two members of a group who, without medical education and a license, promised cancer patients "innovative treatment." Instead of medications, they sold people a solution with apple cider vinegar, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region reported.

      As the court established, in 2023, the defendants convinced people to refuse traditional therapy and purchase pseudo-medications from them, fully understanding that they would not provide any therapeutic effect.

      One of the victims, along with her husband, was persuaded for nine months to buy new "drugs" for cancer. They instilled in the woman that she needed to abandon traditional treatment. She later died from an oncological disease.

      Another victim, who had been undergoing treatment for oncology for a long time, doubted the competence of the "healers." She sent the purchased medications for independent examination. The study showed a complete lack of therapeutic properties. After that, the woman contacted the police.

      For the "treatment," the convicted received 14.1 million rubles from two victims.

      Criminal cases were initiated against the defendants for fraud, attempted fraud, and illegal medical activity. They were in custody during the investigation.

      The court sentenced one of the convicted to 9 years of imprisonment in a general regime correctional colony with a ban on engaging in medical activities for 2 years.

      The second defendant was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months of imprisonment in a general regime colony, also with a two-year ban on engaging in medical activities.
