Vladimir Putin visited the new ice arena in Nizhny Novgorod.

      August 28, 2026 19:14 Sports President of Russia Vladimir Putin visited the universal multifunctional sports complex "Volga Arena" in Nizhny Novgorod. During the visit to the sports complex, the head of state briefly communicated with young hockey players from the children's teams "Torpedo" and "Yunost." The President also left autographs on a hockey stick, a sweater, and a poster.

      The new ice arena will become the home ground of the Nizhny Novgorod hockey club "Torpedo." Permission for the complex to be put into operation was obtained in August 2026. The total area of the sports complex is almost 96 thousand square meters. The stands of the main arena are designed for 12 thousand spectators. In addition, the complex is equipped with two training grounds with a capacity of 250 people each. One of them can be used for sled hockey competitions. The sports complex will be part of the cultural and sports cluster of Nizhny Novgorod. The modern lighting and sound equipment of the main arena will allow not only sports competitions to be held here but also concerts and other mass events.

      Let us remind you that the new sports facility is named after the revived automotive brand Volga. A test match (6+) featuring "Chayka" is scheduled for September 7 at the new arena.
