On August 26, 2026, at 17:07, MTS launched a solution for monitoring the concentration of industrial gases at enterprises in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The system is designed for the early detection of hazardous impurities in the air and to enhance employee safety in the workplace.
The technology is based on sensors with a set of sensors tailored for specific types of gases. They are placed where harmful substances may appear. If the concentration of dangerous compounds exceeds the norm, the equipment automatically records this and activates visual and auditory signals to warn personnel.
Simultaneously, data about the incident is sent to an analytical system, which can activate ventilation, shut-off valves, and other mechanisms. This helps to quickly reduce the concentration of harmful substances, stabilize the situation, and minimize risks for workers, as well as reduce the likelihood of halting the technological process.
The monitoring system works in conjunction with an existing solution for controlling emissions in populated areas. By combining data, enterprises can see a more complete picture: what is happening directly inside production facilities and what is released into the atmosphere beyond the sanitary zone. This approach allows distinguishing planned technological emissions from emergency leaks, quickly locating the source, and reducing diagnostic time. As a result, the risk of equipment downtime and associated costs is reduced.
As noted by the head of the MTS Ecology Center, Olesya Sukhanos, if previously the focus was on assessing the impact of enterprises on the ecology of cities and towns, now work is also being done within the productions themselves, where it is no longer about discomfort but about direct risks to the lives and health of people. The system helps meet occupational safety and industrial safety requirements, and timely information about an event even before an accident occurs allows for reducing risks for personnel and costs for restoring work processes.
Earlier, within the framework of CIPR-2026 (16+), the company, together with the Gorky Railway, announced a strategic partnership in the digitalization of the transport industry. The collaboration began with the implementation of round-the-clock flood monitoring systems and control of contaminated wastewater.
For this purpose, IoT sensors are placed on bridges and coastal supports, which monitor water level fluctuations in real-time and transmit information via GSM channels. This allows for early warnings of flooding on tracks and reduces potential damage to passenger and freight transport. At the same time, environmental monitoring is being developed to control the hydrochemical composition of discharges and ensure compliance with environmental protection requirements.
