Before the injury, 13-year-old Matvey was actively involved in football and showed good results. In July, his team participated in a tournament at the famous "Stamford Bridge" stadium—the home arena of London’s Chelsea—and took third place. However, soon the teenager's sports career was threatened due to a severe knee injury. Specialists for treatment were sought worldwide, but ultimately doctors from Nizhny Novgorod were chosen. As traumatologist Alexey Krupko explained, the case was extremely complicated: the boy was diagnosed with a massive tear of the lateral meniscus, damage to the medial meniscus, and a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament. According to the doctor, during one operation, all structures ensuring the normal functioning of the knee joint were restored. It was previously reported that this winter, mixed martial arts fighter Said Khatiev had his ankles restored after a fracture at a competition in GKB No. 40 in Nizhny Novgorod.
