The mutated swine flu threatens Nizhny Novgorod residents in early September.
August 13, 2026 13:30 Society The mutated swine flu may become one of the main threats of the upcoming epidemic season in Russia. This was reported by healthcare expert Alexey Nikонов on his MAX channel. According to him, an increase in the incidence of flu, COVID, and ARVI is expected as early as the beginning of September. This is just when children will return to schools and kindergartens, and adults will come back from vacations.
"In the new epidemic season, Swine Flu A (H1N1) and the aggressive Hong Kong flu will dominate. Because of this, the WHO has already updated the composition of vaccines for 2026/2027," noted Nikонов.
In addition, a second wave of influenza B is possible in the spring of 2027. It is particularly dangerous due to potential complications in children and the elderly. Earlier, residents of Nizhny Novgorod were already warned about the first wave of flu in the Nizhny Novgorod region and reminded of preventive measures. To find out who is at risk, read here.
