August 13, 2026 16:34 Society The popularity of remote work is increasing in the Nizhny Novgorod region. In this type of employment, men are the most interested—they are one-third more active than women on specialized portals. The desired income for remote work across the country has reached 82,600 rubles, which is higher than salary expectations for office work. This conclusion was reached by analysts from MegaFon and hh.ru in a joint study. Men in the Nizhny Novgorod region visit specialized portals 31% more often than women. Among age groups, residents aged 35 to 44 dominate—they make up almost 40% of the entire audience of such sites, followed by users aged 45-54 (24%). When evaluating resumes specifically for remote positions, job seekers aged 31-40 most often choose to work from home (their share of such resumes is 37%). Candidates aged 19-30 have a nearly identical figure—36%. Interest in remote employment is lower among other age groups. Throughout the year, Nizhny Novgorod residents most actively searched for permanent work from home in the spring. Peak values were recorded in April, when traffic on specialized sites increased by 23% compared to average figures. During the week, the highest volumes of internet data occur on Thursdays—17% higher compared to usual numbers. As big data from the operator shows, residents of Siberia and the northwest of the country are particularly interested in remote work. Kemerovo region showed a record increase—traffic to freelance sites soared 5.6 times over the year. The Nenets Autonomous Okrug demonstrated a growth of 2.5 times. In the Komi Republic, the figure increased by 2.1 times. In comparison, traffic dynamics in large megacities are lower: in Moscow, it was 31%, and in St. Petersburg—19%. Despite the demand from job seekers, Russian companies have started to offer remote formats slightly less frequently. In the summer of 2026, the share of remote vacancies was 5% compared to 6% in the early months of the year. Candidates' salary expectations differ somewhat: the desired income for remote work this summer reached 82,600 rubles, while for office work it was 77,900 rubles. The gap is 6%.
