Nizhny Novgorod residents were warned about high fire danger until August 17.
On August 13, 2026, at 17:02, the Ministry of Emergency Situations warned about the worsening fire hazard situation in the Nizhny Novgorod region. According to the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Upper Volga Hydrometeorological Center," from August 13 to 17, high fire danger for forests and peat bogs—class 4—is expected in certain areas of the region. The rescue agency noted that during this period, the risk of emergencies related to natural fires increases. A rise in the number of fire outbreaks, an increase in the area of fires, as well as the spread of fire to populated areas and economic facilities cannot be ruled out. It was previously reported that July 2026 was the warmest in Russia in 135 years of observations, but not in the Nizhny Novgorod region. NIA "Nizhny Novgorod" has channels on Telegram and MAX.
