Entrepreneurs can participate in the forum "Retail Days in Nizhny Novgorod."
On August 10, 2026, at 17:35, the poster for the first interregional forum of business and government "Retail Days" (18+) will take place on August 27-28, 2026, in Nizhny Novgorod. The event will bring together representatives of federal and regional government bodies, retail chains, marketplaces, manufacturers, suppliers, industry associations, and the expert community.
The forum has been held since 2019. The organizers are the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, the Russian Association of Retail Market Experts (RAERR), and the company "Retail Event."
The event contributes to achieving the goals set by the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, in the national project "Effective and Competitive Economy."
"Trade is one of the most important sectors of the economy, a sphere that people deal with daily. The share of trade in the gross regional product of the Nizhny Novgorod region is significant—about 14%. The issues faced by the industry push it towards rapid adaptation to changing market conditions. The 'Retail Days' forum is an excellent platform to discuss the challenges of the time, exchange successful practices, and establish new business contacts," said Deputy Governor Yegor Polyakov.
The Minister of Industry, Trade, and Entrepreneurship of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Maxim Cherkasov, noted that the region regularly hosts events aimed at developing interaction between business, government bodies, and support infrastructure.
"In the Nizhny Novgorod region, systematic work is organized to support small and medium-sized businesses: inter-municipal round tables, industry Supplier Days are held on a regular basis, and monthly fairs 'Buy Nizhny Novgorod' take place. These events help companies find new partners, discuss relevant business development issues, and expand opportunities for promoting their products. The 'Retail Days' forum will complement the existing work. At the event, participants will be able to establish new business contacts, discuss cooperation prospects, and get acquainted with modern trends in the retail industry," noted Maxim Cherkasov.
The program will open with an analytical session dedicated to key retail indicators and changes in consumer sentiment. The data presented will lay the foundation for further work and help participants consider the topics of subsequent sessions in light of the current market situation.
The central event of the business program will be a plenary session titled "Trade Model: The Future of Regional Retail, Reality Without Illusions." Business and government representatives will discuss new conditions for industry development, the transformation of consumer demand, the interaction of federal and regional companies, as well as growth points.
On the first day, participants will discuss the development of the ready-to-eat food market, the prospects for shopping centers, street spaces, and warehouses, new formats of federal and regional chains, as well as changes in the market for everyday goods.
The practical part of the program will include master classes on assortment management, negotiations with suppliers, and the digitization of product displays to increase sales. Participants will learn about strategic tools for buyers that can be applied when working with assortments and in negotiations with suppliers, as well as how digitizing shelf space helps increase sales.
The second day of the forum will focus on practical issues of retail business development, including marketing, customer service, interaction with marketplaces, franchising, and trade regulation. Within the framework of expert sessions, participants will discuss how to balance technology, data, and loyalty in marketing, as well as explore the possibilities of applying AI solutions and automation in business. Special attention will be paid to licensing issues for the retail trade of tobacco products, as well as preparation for new "Russian Shelf" rules in the categories of beauty and personal care—the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation has developed a draft law that will require retailers to allocate a certain minimum share of non-food products of Russian origin on the shelves (for specific categories).
Participants will also consider the transparency of commissions and tariffs of marketplaces, measures to support Russian manufacturers, and the main criteria for choosing a franchise. The program will include discussions on the use of digital platforms in social projects and the development of customer service through effective feedback management.
The event will take place at: Nizhny Novgorod, Pochaevskaya St., 17 (Corporate University of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region).
