      The grand opening of the new building of the 176th fire department took place in the village of Uzhovka in the Pochinkovsky municipal district on August 11. The new department will become an important component of the fire protection system in the southeast region.

      The honored guests of the event included the Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Sergey Polovnikov, the head of the Department for Civil Defense, Emergency Situations, and Fire Safety Valery Pakhomov, the acting head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod Region Dmitry Saenko, and the head of the local government of the Pochinkovsky district Andrey Melin.

      "The provision of fire safety for Nizhny Novgorod residents is under constant control by the regional government. In accordance with the program for the development of fire protection units in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, 12 fire depot buildings have been constructed since 2020. This work will continue in the future. We will strive to ensure that there is at least one fire service unit in each municipal district," said Sergey Polovnikov.

      The new infrastructure of the 176th fire department is designed to protect an area where nearly three and a half thousand people live. The area of responsibility includes eight settlements. This encompasses about 1,500 residential houses, three schools, three kindergartens, and three cultural centers.

      All new fire depots meet modern requirements and have all the necessary facilities for organizing duty and combat training; the territory around the fire departments allows for systematic improvement of the training base for the professional growth of firefighters.

      Dmitry Saenko highly appreciated the contribution of the personnel of the 176th fire department to ensuring the safety of residents, noting that the new depot will significantly reduce the response time to emergency calls.

      The history of the unit is rich with heroic pages: the fighters of the department actively participated in extinguishing large-scale forest fires in the region in the summer of 2010, in the Mordovian State Nature Reserve in 2021, and in April 2024, during the aftermath of flooding in the village of Ilyinskoye, they saved two people. For their selflessness, 20 employees were awarded the medal of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia "Participant in Fire Suppression."

      It should be noted that over the past five years, the government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region has acquired 124 units of equipment for the fire service. This has allowed for a complete renewal of the fleet of all units in the region.
