Putin named Nizhny Novgorod a leader in the development of public transport.

      August 10, 2026 18:15 Society President of Russia Vladimir Putin highlighted Nizhny Novgorod among the cities demonstrating high results in the development of public transport. The head of state made this statement at a meeting of the presidium of the State Council of the Russian Federation dedicated to issues of industry development. "In our country, there are examples of comprehensive, truly breakthrough, resident-oriented development of public transport. The leading cities in this regard are Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg, and Chelyabinsk," said Vladimir Putin.

      Earlier, the president supported the development of a high-speed railway line from Moscow to Nizhny Novgorod to Kazan. It is also worth noting that while speaking at the SPIEF-2026 in St. Petersburg, Vladimir Putin praised the Nizhny Novgorod region for the restoration of cultural heritage sites.
