A mini-stadium with a hockey rink has been renovated at Nizhny Novgorod School No. 181.

On August 10, 2026, 17:39 Society The renovation of the mini-stadium with a hockey rink was completed at school No. 181 as part of the initiative budgeting project "It's up to you!". Without waiting for the start of the school year, local kids are already practicing on the field. The head of the Kanavinsky district administration, Artyom Ivanov, together with the deputy of the regional Legislative Assembly, member of the "United Russia" faction, Yulia Garevskaya, the territorial coordinator of the "It's up to you!" project, Ilya Khamov, and the deputy of the Nizhny Novgorod City Duma, member of the "United Russia" party deputy association, Stanislav Prokopovich, checked the quality of the work done at the site. At that time, training was underway: the kids from the karate section were practicing special techniques, while young footballers were preparing for an upcoming yard match. The students talked about their activities and plans for the school year. "I am thrilled with how the field has been renovated. I really like it! We are already practicing karate on it, as well as playing football and basketball. In the fall, we will also be doing 'Yunarmiya' activities here with our class teacher," said student Dominika Khrenova. She was supported by Yunarmeyets Yegor Khalipov: "We will be engaged in military-patriotic training: practicing marching, doing pull-ups, and disassembling rifles." After talking with the young athletes, the head of the district administration, Artyom Ivanov, promised to hold a hockey training session for them in winter, after the rink is flooded. "I play hockey myself and will show you a couple of techniques. We will develop this sport at school No. 181," he said. During the inspection, a representative of the contracting organization, Nikita Serebryakov, reported that the old hockey box had been dismantled at the school, new boards had been installed, and basketball stands with backboards and mini-football goals had been set up. "Before starting the work, we met with the school administration and parents to discuss all the details and take their wishes into account. We tried to do everything in the shortest possible time - in five days, so that the kids could start practicing on the updated field as soon as possible," he said. Deputy Director of School No. 181, Darya Chashchina, noted that the school has already participated in the "It's up to you!" project three times. "In 2024, we renovated the asphalt surface at the main entrance to the school, in 2025 we installed new soft covering on the sports ground, and this year we completed its renovation. Now it is not only the main place for physical education classes but also an area where we organize various school events and extracurricular activities," shared the deputy director. "My children study at this school, and we are all very happy that the field has been renovated. It's great that there is the 'It's up to you!' project that we can participate in. We always vote as a family and also involve grandparents, relatives, and friends," shared the mother of the students, Vera Khalipova. "I studied at this school myself, and it's very nice that such a modern complex has appeared. Our children find it much more convenient to engage in sports," added Nizhny Novgorod resident Elena Moskvina. According to the head of the district administration, Artyom Ivanov, eight projects proposed by the residents of Kanavino will be implemented in 2026 under the "It's up to you!" project. "Currently, five of them are fully ready: the roadway on Metallurgicheskaya, Grodnenskaya, and Aleksandra Matrosova streets has been repaired, as well as the road connecting the gardening associations 'Yasnaya Polyana', 'Vagonnik', and 'Zheleznodorozhnik', and children's playgrounds on Puteiskaya and Teplichnaya streets have been modernized. Work is also currently underway to repair the asphalt surface at schools No. 96, 41, and Gymnasium No. 2. And today we inspected another site - the renovated hockey rink on the territory of school No. 181 - and confirmed that all the work was done by the contractor with quality and on time," said the head of the district administration, instructing to work on the issue of creating convenient paths to the sports facility. Deputy of the regional Legislative Assembly Yulia Garevskaya noted that all conditions for ensuring the safety of children have been created at the site. "Very good, reliable boards have been installed at the sports ground. Here, you can engage in various sports: both football and basketball, and you can also just do running exercises. And of course, what is most important for our children is that childhood should be happy, interesting, and safe. And all these conditions have been met. A wonderful facility!" she said. "This site is one of the best examples of what a modern sports facility should be. Today we saw the happy faces of children who are eagerly mastering the updated space. The 'It's up to you!' project has been proving its effectiveness for several years: it gives citizens a real tool to influence the appearance of the city, and residents willingly take advantage of this opportunity," said City Duma deputy Stanislav Prokopovich. "I am confident that this multifunctional facility will be a point of attraction among residents. The site is already popular with young Kanavintsy. In addition to schoolchildren, kids from nearby sports organizations' sections and clubs also practice here. This is a real result of the 'It's up to you!' project," said territorial coordinator of the project Ilya Khamov. Recall that earlier, the head of the city, Yuri Shalabaev, announced that the official portal GOLOSA.RU is open for applications under the "It's up to you!" project for 2027, which will end on September 1. "The priorities for improvement - from yard territories to sports facilities - are still determined by the residents themselves. This year, the implementation of 78 initiatives is planned in the territory of Nizhny Novgorod. I invite Nizhny Novgorod residents to participate in the selection and contribute to the development of our city," said the head of the city, Yuri Shalabaev.
