      Starting January 1, 2027, the procedure for arranging care for first-group disabled individuals, disabled children, and people over 80 years old will change in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The main innovation is that the application will need to be submitted at the beginning of the care period, rather than after its completion, as is currently the case. This was reported by the press service of the OSFR for the Nizhny Novgorod region.

      To arrange care, the consent of the person receiving assistance will also be required. This rule will apply even if the caregiver and the person being cared for live together.

      In addition, the fact of care will need to be confirmed every year. For this, a new application must be submitted no later than 12 months after the previous arrangement. If care ceases, the caregiver must inform the SFR Department within five working days. At the same time, the person being cared for will also be able to officially refuse assistance.

      Care periods will still count towards the insurance record for a working-age person. For each full year, 1.8 pension coefficients will be accrued.

      Those who have cared for relatives until January 1, 2027, but have not registered this period in their work record will be given time until January 1, 2028. After that, it will no longer be possible to confirm past care periods.
