Where summer goes: Wink knows what to do in August

      There aren't many summers, but time cannot be stopped. Wink (a joint venture of Rostelecom and NMG) presents premieres of films and series that will brighten the lengthening evenings of the last summer month. And let "Cold" (18+) remain only on screen — throughout August, new episodes of the series will continue to be released on Thursdays, in which our contemporary takes on ruthless revenge in the spirit of the Count of Monte Cristo.

      Zhenya (Lyubov Aksenova) ends up in prison for a crime she did not commit — a terrible accident on Kutuzovsky Prospekt that claimed the lives of her husband and six-year-old daughter. In the colony, Zhenya loses her sense of life and seeks relief in death, but accidentally saves the influential inmate Yana (Linda Lapinsh). In return, she gives the heroine a reason to continue fighting — revenge. For two years, Yana teaches Zhenya how to become stronger and smarter while preparing for an escape. The viewer will see what a person is capable of when they have nothing to lose and what consequences the flame of revenge can lead to. The thriller "Cold," which received one of the highest ratings from Wink viewers (9.4 out of 10), also stars Larisa Guzeeva, Pyotr Fedorov, Alexander Averin, Maxim Boyko, Ksenia Katalymova, Denis Prytkov, and others.

      Once again, revenge, but this time with a South Korean flavor, becomes the driving force of the plot in the horror film "Colony" (18+). This film will help prepare for corporate weekdays for those returning from vacations in August. The story about the collapse of social norms was directed by Yeon Sang-ho, known for "Train to Busan." In Seoul, a presentation of a new development by a well-known bioengineering corporation is taking place. However, a dismissed employee decides to take revenge by releasing a virus in the business center. It turns the inhabitants of a large office center into bloodthirsty monsters endowed with a collective mind. In this survival training in the office, despite any circumstances, starred Jung Ji-hyun, Koo Kyo-hwan, Chi Chang-wook, Kim Shin-nok, and others. "Colony" will premiere on Wink starting August 1.

      Wink has gathered a bright collection of premieres for those who are enjoying the last month of vacation. The family film "Little Karate Kid" (12+) will remind why it's important to engage in sports. Twelve-year-old Sasha (Miron Provorov) from Moscow sees his usual way of life change drastically. His doctor parents leave for a long assignment in Africa, and he is sent to his aunt in Pyatigorsk. Sasha cannot get used to the new city, he is bullied at school, and then comes the news that his parents are missing during a flood... In a moment of despair, brave Masha comes to help, introducing Sasha to karate. In this touching story about growing up, friendship, self-acceptance, and strengthening the spirit through martial arts, also starred Roman Kurtsyn, Alina Sokolova, Magomed Ismailov, Maftun Saidisribov, Kirill Pletnev, Polina Maximova, and others. "Little Karate Kid" will hit the tatami on Wink on July 31.

      The family comedy "Space Masha" (12+) will remind that school is just around the corner. Eleven-year-old Masha grew up in the family of a cosmonaut: she can pilot a plane, drive a car, and is a master with a sewing machine and technology in general. But one day her father goes on another space expedition, and Masha flies to St. Petersburg to visit her grandmother. There, she will have to attend a regular school for the first time, meet peers who, unlike her, did not grow up at a cosmodrome. She will also bring a homeless person as a guest and intends to transform the world around her. The director of the comedy is Nikita Vladimirov, and the main roles are played by Azarell Senlis Lyafey, Tatyana Dogileva, and Mikhail Troinik. The film is already available on Wink.

      "Robo-Nanny" (6+) is a continuation of the comedic cinematic universe "Home Alone" about the adventures of the already familiar girl Zlata, who has now become the main character of her own story. She dreams of attending the school ball, for which she cunningly forces her parents to leave her home alone during the holidays, while an experimental robot with artificial intelligence will look after her. The Robo-Nanny monitors Zlata's schedule, forbids sweets, and controls every step. Together with her friend Nikita, Zlata devises a plan to regain her freedom, but the situation spirals out of control... The film is directed by Maxim Maksimov and Anna Solovyeva-Karpovich, and stars Eva Smirnova and the family of popular bloggers Denis, Elena, and Vasilisa Kukoyaki, who have become the main character's cinematic family. The premiere date in August will be announced later.

      In two premiere projects, children pass the lead roles to their beloved pets. Starting July 31, you can watch the family comedy "Deni and Meni in the Movies!" (6+). Labrador Deni and sphinx cat Meni are true social media superstars and favorites of millions. Now the four-legged heroes, who have won everyone over with their charm and touching friendship, have made it to the big screen. In the film, their friendship will undergo a serious test. When Deni receives a large advertising contract and moves in with his agent Andrey, he and Meni, who are used to always being together, find themselves apart for the first time. Immersed in the dazzling world of show business, Deni gradually realizes that no success can replace family, and sincerity is worth more than any contracts. Alongside the superstar pets, the film features Stepan Devonin and Olga Venikova, as well as Artem Tkachenko, Dmitry Khrustalev, Vlad Lisovets, and figure skater, two-time world and European champion in singles Evgenia Medvedeva.

      The full-length Russian-Belarusian animated film, as the title suggests, is also dedicated to man's best friends. "Dad, Buy a Puppy" (6+) is a cartoon about the exciting adventures of the puppy Dippy. The prototype of the main character is Milana Khametova's pet — a chihuahua named Dippy, who often appears in her social media. She also voices the main character Milana — a girl dreaming of a dog, while the father of the family is voiced by David Manukyan. Milana receives a long-awaited gift from her parents — a puppy named Dippy. The joy knows no bounds, but one day during a walk, the girl gets distracted, and the puppy gets lost in the park, left alone in a big city. While Milana searches for her beloved pet, Dippy awaits exciting adventures, where he will become a true hero capable of protecting not only himself but also his friends. Dippy meets a street cat named Bingo, a rat named Bangs, and even falls in love with a chihuahua named Tabby. The premiere date will be announced later.

      Finally, after a family viewing with children and teenagers, adults will be able to watch "Star Signal" (18+) — a fresh Canadian sci-fi detective starting August 1. Annika's project on filming dark matter gained wide recognition and attracted the attention of eccentric billionaire Sam Houston. He dreams of exploring the mysteries of space and invites Annika to a private island in the company of talented young engineer Charlie. There, they meet experienced scientist Perry, a harsh and unpleasant man who created a prototype transmitter for contacting aliens. The consequences of their experiments could lead to unpredictable outcomes. The main roles in Jonathan Sobol's film are played by Isabelle Fuhrman and Dennis Quaid.
