Two villages in the Varnavinsky district will become hamlets.

      On July 29, 2026, at 10:40 AM, Society In the Nizhny Novgorod region, there are plans to change the status of two rural settlements in the Varnavinsky district. The corresponding bills were submitted to the Legislative Assembly by the Council of Deputies of the district.

      The settlements in question are the villages of Antonikha in the Bogorodsky rural council and Prudovka in the Mikhalevinsky rural council. Both are proposed to be reclassified from the category of "village" to "hamlet." The first has no registered residents, while three people live in the second.

      As noted in the explanatory note, the need for changes is related to the existence of homonymous settlements with the same name located in different rural councils. Such coincidences create difficulties when working with the Federal Information Address System—during property rights registration, gasification of houses, and others.

      Changing the status of the settlements will not lead to adjustments of their borders and will not affect the borders of other territories. It will also not require changing documents for residents and property owners, and social support measures will remain in place.

      Earlier, it was proposed to abolish the uninhabited rural settlement of Yelevaia Zavod.
